The Volume Manager Dialog
The Volume Manager (Ctrl/G) can be displayed by choosing Volume Manager from the Tools menu. It allows you to manage the use of fixed and removable volumes in PMIO. The Volume Manager:
- Allows you to introduce new volumes to PMIO.
- Allows you to assign a meaningful name to each volume. This allows PMIO to display a sensible name for volumes that have meaningless or non-existent volume labels.
- Allows you to remove volumes from PMIO.
Introducing Volumes
To introduce a new volume to PMIO:
- Run the Volume Manager (Ctrl/G).
- Insert the volume in a drive. For CD drives that are configured to notify Windows when media are inserted, PMIO should automatically detect the volume and add it to its volume list. If this does not happen, click the Update tool button. Note: If the volume is a floppy disk, you need to ensure that the relevant floppy drive is enabled in disk preferences.
- If the drive containing the volume is not displayed in the drop-down list, select it.
- PMIO detects the type of volume from the type of drive it is mounted in. Observe that the Type selector is disabled since PMIO knows the type of this volume.
If you now remove the volume from the drive, the display will update to show that the volume is no longer mounted, and the Type selector will be enabled so that you can change the type of volume if you wish.
