Other Quality Software

Sometimes a piece of software comes along that is so well done that it's better than a large slab of mature cheddar. Here are a few programs that we heartily recommend:

Wallpaper Calendar - An interactive calendar and diary integrated into your desktop. We couldn't live without it. Screenshot
Doxygen - A free documentation system for C++, C, Java and IDL. It generates HTML, LaTeX and RTF formats (to name but a few) directly from your source code.
AdAware - A free tool for removing SpyWare and advertising systems from your computer. Screenshot
Terragen - A photorealistic landscape generator. Although still in the prototype phase, this incredible program has to be seen to be believed. Screenshot, Example image
Crossword Compiler - The software of choice for all crossword buffs. Screenshot

A good user interface is one of the most important features of a piece of software. There's no point having lots of great functionality if the user gets confused and doesn't know how to use it. Here is a list of programs that we have found to have excellent user interfaces:

TextPad - Puts Notepad in the Recycle Bin where it belongs! Screenshot
